My experience using Microsoft Word throughout high school was pretty minimal it really kickstarted with my first class at FSU. In high school, I mostly used Google Docs unless a teacher-created an assignment with charts that needed to be filled out in Microsoft Word. Other than that most of my Microsoft Word experience came from my first class at Fsu ENC1101. I also have taken a class that teaches you about the different Office programs so I have a decent amount of experience with all of those. Overall though I feel like my favorite to use is Google Classroom since I use it the most and it seems the easiest to operate or the most user-friendly.

The ISTE that is the most meaningful to me is probably the 2.1 Learner standard. This is where educators will continually improve their practice through learning from others. Educators will set goals, pursue interests, and stay current in order to uphold education and learner's standards. I feel this is extremely important because staying up to date and always improving with the next change keeps students knowledgeable and provides them with the best quality of education. This standard proves to be important for the younger generation since everything is so faced paced nowadays if their instructors are not it will be extremely hard to learn. It is important that educators and learners are constantly adapting.

I would definitely agree with the term digital native for today's youth and even a little bit for my age range of peers. My age range did not necessarily grow up with technology readily available at all times but it was definitely there. But for today's group of children, they have technology everywhere they look and it is very likely that they own their own technology as well. I have seen extreme differences in how digital natives and digital immigrants use technology, for example, I feel that digital natives are quicker to understand how a new technology works compared to a digital immigrant who might take longer to figure it out. I feel that future students will just continue to become more and more advanced beyond what we can even comprehend now in terms of technology.

Badges are a part of technology sort of like a digital footprint of your accomplishments that you can send out or use to keep track. I think that badges are really healthy if you look back at them and it's a good self-esteem boost especially if the badges are related to self-betterment. I have earned badges through my apple watch-like fitness goals and such. I think they can be really important to someone who cares but I could also see how they may be frustrating for someone not working toward any particular goal. I personally do not share mine only because they are my personal accomplishments but I think its great if you do.

  1. Hey Brooke! I agree with your point of preferring to use Google over Microsoft because of it being more user friendly and easier to operate. I also liked how that ISTE standard you felt was most meaningful was 2.1 Learner because of educators consistently learning from each other to improve education for their students in general. I think that it is important for educators to teach to their students and be able to adapt with time, instead of sticking to one way the whole time.
